WiCOR’s mission is to advance our understanding of the origins of life in the Universe through interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach. WiCOR has seven UW-Madison Member Departments: Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Astronomy, Bacteriology, Botany, Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics, along with individual members from several other programs including Statistics, Mathematics, Chemical and Biological Engineering, and the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery. The Advisory Council for WiCOR “oversees operation of the center and votes on policy, membership, and any other constitutive matters. The Advisory Council is chaired by the WiCOR Director.”
